Camp Via West is Hiring a Health Center Manager, RN/NP

Join our Camp this summer located in Cupertino California providing services to children and adults with disabilities. The Assistant Health Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall health and safety of campers and staff in conjunction with the Health Center Manager.

Seeking a year round full-time Health Center Manager salary (100k-115k) or

A seasonal full-time position- housing offered onsite for 12 week Camp (Summer Pay 23k-28k May-Aug)

Camp Via West has been serving the Bay Area and beyond since 1945. Our camp is located on a beautiful 13.5 acre campus nestled in the Redwoods of Cupertino Foothills in California. We offer a wide variety of respite and innovative camp programming for children and adults with disabilities (autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and others) to learn new skills, develop meaningful relationships, build confidence and more… all while enjoying the great outdoors! ABOUT THE ROLE:

Job Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with American Camp Association guidelines for nursing through evidence-based policies, procedures and processes.
  • Lead Training a qualified team of healthcare professionals and interns to support camp healthcare services.
  • Provide support for pre-season intake assessments for new campers.
  • Provide routine and emergency medical care to campers and staff, including administering medications, treating minor injuries and illnesses, and responding to medical emergencies.
  • Establish and follow appropriate health care standards, including record keeping in the health care logs, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved and standing orders.
  • Maintain an effective system for health screening and preparation of medication administration records (MARs) for arriving campers and staff.
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies.
  • Assist with overseeing nursing interns and provide support.
  • Assist with communication with parents/caregivers regarding their camper’s health needs, medication administration, and any significant health-related incidents.
  • Participate and lead in and support specific areas of staff training for both nursing and general staff, pertaining to Via West health and safety, first aid, and use of universal precautions for infection control.
  • Take charge of all deliverables and learning activities to meet outcomes and objectives for the Via West Community Health Center Nurse Internship program through formal training days, onsite preceptorship, clinical conferences and oversight of medication administration, treatments and nursing assessment for participants and staff.
  • Provide on-call support during the summer season as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum experience and qualifications

  • BSN is required; MSN is preferred*
  • Current California Registered Nurse license in good standing is required
  • At least three years of professional experience working with children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities is required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proof of negative TB test results
  • Proof of TDAP
  • Verification of occupational physical clearance
  • Pass a criminal fingerprint clearance
  • 18 years of age
  • Verification of eligibility to work in the US
  • Clean Driving Record (if applicable)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

  • Ability to lift and jointly transfer clients – may require lifting up to 45 lbs, with peer support and does require bending at the waist and knee
  • Ability to be on your feet, standing, walking, and occasional running for a significant part of the day
  • Ability to perform static standing for up to 45 minutes at a time
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain
  • Ability to sit for up to 45 minutes, 3 – 6 times daily
